Philomena Update
Philomena has now been with exactly 6 weeks today (though feels like a lifetime).
In the 1st 2 photos you can see her in her new life jacket.. we have discovered Phillys love of water and the therapeutic benefits it brings her.
The life jacket keeps her safe when having her hydrotherapy sessions.
For those of you who don’t know her story she was found abandoned in Bradford in a garden.
Philo was lucky to be alive… She is deaf, blind, has spinal cord compression, scoliosis and was severely dehydrated.
There is a huge piece missing in the jigsaw … We don’t know if she has been in a road accident or suffered some sort of traumatic incident … Or indeed if Philomena was born with spinal cord issues.
When we rescued her she looked like a battered old stray dying in the cold in a garden…. it was only when we got her back to the rescue and examined her she indeed was only around 4 months old.
Over the last 6 weeks she has been in and out of the vets having tests and treatments, and has continually on intravenous fluid therapy at the rescue, which she is still receiving and being Intensively nursed by me!!
Every day we have seen tiny baby steps of improvement in her health …
Philomena has months and months of recovery ahead of her…. And I will be walking ( and swimming) that full journey with her.
We are not looking to rehome Philly at any time in the foreseeable future and will not be responding to any adoption enquiries relating to her.
Many thanks to everyone who has already donated towards her care.
Here is her photo journey so far…
