Fabulous Foster Friday

Its Fabulous Foster Friday and today I want you all to know how fantastic our team of fosterers are.

This week Laura wants to share her experiences as a foster carer Bradford Cat Watch Rescue & Sanctuary

❤️My family and I began fostering in August 2019. The first cats we fostered were Freddy and Diva whose owner had sadly passed away. They were both 11 years old with completely different personalities and we couldn’t bear to part with them, so they became our ‘foster fails’.

Over the next couple of years we fostered many cats including lots of pregnant mums to be, so we have been privileged to see many kittens come into this world. Although my son wasn’t impressed when one cat decided to give birth on his bedroom floor rather than in the cosy box we had prepared for her.

There have been a few sad times too, such as losing 2 kittens at just a couple of weeks old,but as Katie said from day one ‘fostering can be tough and sad things can happen but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

I’ll never forget coming home from work one day to find the door to our dedicated foster room open, panicking, then finding Berry, our foster cat at the time snuggled up on our bed with our dog!

The most recent pregnant cat we fostered, Iris, gave birth to 7 kittens! Our previous record had been 6! They definitely kept us on our toes for the 9 weeks we looked after them, although you can’t beat sitting down and being climbed on all over by 7 kittens after a day at work!

I have so many stories I could tell about our time spent fostering, but the main point I want to make is that it has been so rewarding. I love seeing pictures of the cats and kittens we have fostered in their new homes, it makes all the hard work worthwhile.❤️
