Coronavirus: Why Now is NOT a Good Time to Adopt a Kitten.

Here at the rescue we are getting an unprecedented number of enquries of people wanting to adopt a kitten.

Whilst we totally understand that this seems an ideal time, when many families are stuck at home, bored children and nice weather…. here are the reasons to NOT adopt right now.

  • Any reputable and respectable rescue will have temporarily closed their doors and will not be allowing visitors or adoptions.
  • Kittens are prone to illness. They have weak immune systems as young kittens…. and will almost certainly need vet care for minor ailments and certainly for vaccines, flea and worm treatments etc. Vets are only offering an Emergency Service at this time.
  • Cat and kitten food and is in short supply. Kittens need a nutritional diet to ensure healthy development.
  • Households are being ordered to stay indoors. Rescues are under immense pressure. @BCWR we have gone from 19 regular volunteers a week at the RESCUE CENTRE down to 3 during this crisis.
Please show us some kindness and respect and wait until, as a Nation we are in a safer and more certain position.

THIS IS TEMPORARY.
WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER AND TOGETHER WE WILL GET THROUGH IT.

You can help us get through this crisis by donating to our vet bill, ordering some much needed food supplies. PLEASE stay safe and PLEASE, if you can, stay at home. 🐾💞
