Smudge

This is Smudge.
Smudge is almost 17 years young and has been in the rescue for 14 weeks now.

Smudge came to us via a vet referral when his elderly owner felt she couldn’t cope with Smudge, and she had infact booked him in for euthanasia.
Smudge has had a longterm thyroid issue for many years which has being reasonably controlled with medication.
When he arrived with us and initial bloods and tests were done it was decided that Smudge would benefit greatly from a thyroidectomy.
This was done yesterday, and Smudge is now recovering well.

Our vet at Northcote remarked at how large this thyroid was!!.
Now the thyroid has been removed he does not need the daily medication.
Eventually when it is safe to do so, we hope to find a long term quiet home for Smudge, along with the support of of the rescue for his retirement.
