Want to be a Book Buddy? (Carrots Does World Book Day)

Today is World Book Day. Many children are going to school dressed as their favourite characters from books they have read. Here is Carrots dressed as a unicorn.

Reading is so important and here at BCWR we are hoping to host BOOK BUDDIES – a reading club to invite children and their “care givers” to come and spend time with some of our cats and bring their favourite book to read them a story. We also have a few books here too for those who may struggle to choose one.

Children and parents who are able to read at any level are invited to read to the cats in our rescue. Not only will this help children improve their reading skills while also helping the rescue cats by providing socialisation and human interaction. Cats find the rhythmic sound of a voice very comforting and soothing. Children can read in a non-judgmental environment and find support and comfort with the cats.

Please comment on our Facebook post, email us or indeed come express interest in person at the rescue if this is something of interest to you. If we have lots of interest we will put some dates and a programme together.
